We must understand the terminology of the subject. Without knowing what the words mean, we say things that we do not mean to say.
These mistakes lead to misdirection, confusion, and failure. The importance of getting the language right cannot be overstated.
The term “geoengineering” refers to deliberately engineering the Earth’s climate system on a large scale. Modern definitions, and even legal language, emphasise actions taken for the “express purpose” of changing the climate.
Chemtrails don’t fit this definition. They are not deemed intentional climate interventions. They are not designed to alter temperature or weather.
Geoengineering is commonly divided into 2 categories:
- Solar Radiation Management (SRM) (e.g., stratospheric aerosol injection)
- Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) (often what is called carbon capture)
Trails do not come under the geoengineering banner, and cannot be claimed to be part of any coordinated effort to engineer the climate system.
They form as a by-product of ordinary aircraft operations, whose purpose is simply to transport people and cargo from one place to another, from A to B.
The exhaust trail is a by-product of the transport system, not for the express purpose of changing the climate.
The defining feature of geoengineering is intent. It involves deliberately altering the climate system to achieve a specific outcome, such as cooling the planet.
Trails, by contrast, are deemed to be an unintended by-product of jet engines. They are not created with the purpose of modifying weather or climate.
Cloud seeding is a form of weather modification but it is not geoengineering, because it operates on a local or regional scale rather than attempting to alter the global climate.
Cloud seeding is done at lower altitudes by small aircraft that release chemicals from flares attached to their wings to encourage rain.
Cloud seeding and local rain control by making it rain is a big business.
Most famously, during the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, cloud seeding was used to clear the atmosphere before the games.
It is true that trails can affect the weather. Previously we have shown that airplane trails create weather pattern changes and change the amount of sunlight reaching the ground. Some scientists have called this “accidental geoengineering.”
However, the key point is that this effect is deemed to be unintentional. Geoengineering requires deliberate action for the express purpose of altering the climate.
Even though the trails are enhanced by the particulates in the fuel, they are still only a by-product of regular aviation, they happen because planes are flying from one place to another, taking passengers and freight from A to B.
If you truly want to stop chemtrails, stop calling them geoengineering and cloud seeding, they are neither.
They grow in clear blue skies because they are enhanced by the hygroscopic sulfur-coated metallic particles in the exhaust that force logarithmic growth in subsaturated air.
